When traveling in Spain would you take disposable cameras or a digital camera?

Sunday Dec 6, 2009

I am going to Spain this summer and don’t know if i want to take the risk of taking a digital camera. Everyone i talk says they have had things stolen from them such as their digital cameras. I might just buy a bunch of disposable cameras.

Take a digital one however, take the memory card out when not using it, so if the camera is stolen then you still have your pics on the card.

The problem is that i find cameras that low in price but i’m not sure if they are really good quality or just cheap ones. So if anyone knows a good model of digital camera meeting what i wanted could you please answer?

Not sure if there’s a "Best" brand, but certainly the top brands are Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony. Here’s a link to the top (most popular) digital cameras:

What digital cameras are good with low-light and up-close pictures?

Saturday Nov 28, 2009

I am looking for a digital camera that will be used for a lot of at night or low-light shots as well as very close-up shots. Additionally, I would like a camera that is in the "compact" or "ultra-compact" category if possible. What are some suggestions for specific cameras, or, in general what features should I be looking for on cameras’ spec sheets that would tell me that the camera was good with low-light or up-close shots?

If the low light shots are of building or such, you can put any camera on a tripod. If you need to do them hand held (street photography/ concerts/ sports/ etc.), you’re out of luck. This is the domain of digital SLR cameras. The digital Nikons are good at this, and the Canons are even better. They can go up to ISO 6400 in a pinch, and they’ll deliver beutifull image quality as high as ISO 1600. This is better than film ever was. If you add a light sensitive lens, like a 50mm f/1.4, you can do action photography by candle light. No compact camera comes anywhere close to that. (The autofocus will hunt forever, and when it does lock on, you’ll need a shutter time of several seconds.)
If it must be a compact, get one where you can crank the ISO up to 1600 (or higher).
For extreme close ups, get a macro lens (or a compact that has a macro function.)

What brand Digital Cameras support different brand SD cards?

Thursday Nov 26, 2009

I’m shopping for a digital camera and want a brand that will accept all different brand SD cards. For example I don’t wnat to be committed to buying a SONY SD card for my camera

What cameras support all brand SD cards?

Five points for best answer!

If a camera takes SD cards then it will take SD cards.

An SD card made by Sony will work like any other…

That I know of, Sony do not make SD cards though. Sony, like Fujifilm, make their own type of memory card. Sony’s is called the Sony Memory Stick. Fujifilm’s is called the XD Card. They are incompatible with each other as well as SD and Compact Flash cards.

If you want a camera that takes SD cards then buy pretty much any cheap camera not made by Fuji or Sony. Almost all more expensive cameras tend to take CF (Compact Flash) Cards.

My preference for compact cameras is Canon. Nikon are good too.

Just ask in the shop to make sure that it does take SD cards.

When I look at digital cameras online, how do I know if the camera can zoom in while its taking a video?

Tuesday Nov 24, 2009

When I look at digital cameras online, how do I know if the camera can zoom in while its taking a video?
Is it "Optical Zoom"?
The camera that I have right now can not zoom while I am taking a video, even though it can zoom in on pictures.

Also, none of the cameras I’m looking at seem to have the dimensions or quality of their video. How do I know if the video quality will be good?

Digital cameras are real fun.

I found tthis site really helpful. Hope it is of use for you
